Making a Compost Scoop from a
Detergent Bottle
Click thumbnails for larger images
Materials & Tools
Empty detergent bottle
Hacksaw
Marker pen
|
 |
Step 1
Draw a line with the marker pen
as shown.
|
 |
Step 2
Using the hacksaw, carefully cut
along the line to remove the base of the bottle. You may be able
to use heavy-duty scissors or shears instead of the saw.
|
 |
Example 1
A finished scoop. Other bottles
may be suitable, provided they have a handle in a similar
position and are sturdy enough - milk bottles are too flimsy. |
 |
Example 2
Note that this is not a digging
tool, but is useful for transferring sieved compost into pots
and seed trays.
